High-capacity silo facility in the port area

From initial planning to commissioning: for this project, we built a complete silo plant, supplying almost all the plant engineering from our own Zuther production facilities. From the 16 × 4-metre receiving pit, through the conveyor technology and grain cleaning systems, to the pipework, distributors and silo gates, we delivered a comprehensive, end-to-end solution from a single source.

The new plant is designed for a receiving capacity of 2 × 250 t/h across two separate lines. Zuther trough chain conveyors and bucket elevators ensure efficient and reliable material transport. The subsequent product handling was also implemented entirely using Zuther pipework systems, slide gates and hopper boxes.

Grain cleaning is also a key component of the plant concept. Our OPTIMA screen cleaning machine, with a capacity of up to 160 t/h, is used for this purpose. It combines size classification and light-fraction separation, enabling the precise removal of dust and light particles.

In addition to the new construction, the existing plant was also integrated into the new plant concept. The adjacent machine house presented a particular challenge in this regard. The equipment housed there was comprehensively modernised, and the previously manual operation was converted to an automated, electrically controlled system. This enabled the new construction and the existing plant to be technically integrated into a single, coherent system.

This delivers significant added value for the operator: high intake and conveying capacities, more efficient and highly automated operational processes, and high-performance cleaning improve the overall material flow. At the same time, the modernisation of the existing technology reduces the need for manual intervention. Through the intelligent integration of the existing infrastructure, existing structures could continue to be utilised and made fit for the future with modern plant technology.

We also handled all the engineering work in-house: from the initial design through to technical 3D planning, right through to manufacturing, assembly and commissioning, we supported the project throughout the entire implementation process.

For us, this was an all-round successful project at the port and a fine example of what we mean by ‘plant engineering from a single source’: high-performance technology, a high degree of automation and optimally coordinated processes – with the aim of offering the operator greater performance, more efficient operations and a high level of operational reliability in the long term.
